SiSU Health has analysed over 200,00 self-service health checks, conducted by employees across 23 industries in the UK, to deliver insights into which industries are the unhealthiest and impacted most by health inequalities.
But cost is seen as the main barrier to implementation of health and wellbeing initiatives, with the majority of employers describing their approach as reactive.
In the meantime, health inequalities are growing in the UK. The connection between health inequalities and workplace productivity includes factors such as absenteeism, presenteeism, low job retention, reduced workforce participation, discrimination and mental health impacts.
The economic health impact of these health inequalities is therefore very real.
SiSU Health has analysed over 200,00 self-service health checks, conducted by employees across 23 industries in the UK, to deliver insights into which industries are the unhealthiest and impacted most by health inequalities.
The Unhealthiest Industry Revealed
Materials - With the greatest number of average health risks per employee health check. Including over 21% of health checks revealing a high blood pressure risk, over 70% with a high BMI risk and 11% smoking. A greater male demographic and higher median age are likely to be contributing factors.
The Most Diverse Industry Revealed
Health care and equipment services - Over 47% employees identified as from an ethnic minority.
The Most Deprived Industry Revealed
Transportation - Over 77% of employees were from IMD 1-3.
The Most Improved Industry Revealed
Government Authority - The good news! With an impressive reduction in blood pressure risk and smoking reduction in those who repeated health checks.
