Routine and manual workers experience some of the poorest health outcomes yet face significant barriers to accessing preventative services. In this webinar, Essex County Council and Essex Working Well will share lessons from a workplace prevention programme that reached underserved populations, uncovered hidden health risks and connected people with support.
Many prevention programmes face the same challenge: the people who would benefit most are often the hardest to reach.
Routine and manual workers experience higher rates of smoking, obesity and cardiovascular risk factors, yet shift patterns and the need to take time away from work can make traditional health services difficult to access.
Essex County Council tested a different approach by bringing health checks directly into workplaces. The programme identified previously unknown health risks, generated referrals into smoking cessation and weight management services, and prompted many participants to take action to improve their health.
1,654 health checks. 23% completed outside of GP hours. 19% had high blood pressure. 68% reported positive lifestyle changes.
Join Essex County Council, Essex Working Well and SISU Health to hear both the commissioning and delivery perspectives behind a workplace prevention programme that reached over 1,600 employees.
For local authorities, CICs and service providers looking to improve prevention outcomes and reduce health inequalities, workplace-based delivery offers a practical way to engage underserved populations.
This webinar will share lessons from both the commissioning and delivery of the programme, including what worked, what challenges emerged and considerations for future initiatives.
