The DHSC Workplace CVD Health Checks Pilot tested whether workplace-based delivery could feasibly and effectively reach more working-age people, including men, younger employees and those less likely to take up NHS Health Checks or outside the 40-74 age range.
This webinar shares practical lessons from local authorities on what worked, what could be improved, and what it means for future prevention and Working Well programmes.
The NHS Health Check programme remains a cornerstone of cardiovascular prevention, but primary care capacity is under pressure, eligibility is limited and many people cannot attend appointments.
Working-age populations face additional barriers such as shift patterns, inflexible roles and travel, which can make traditional checks difficult to access.
“It’s the opportunity that matters – especially for people who don’t have time to think about their health in busy day-to-day life. If they’re at work and the kiosk is right there, that five-minute investment could genuinely save someone’s life.”
Paul Stokes, Public Health Principal, Cambridgeshire County Council
The DHSC Workplace CVD Health Checks Pilot allowed local authorities to test whether workplace-based checks could provide a practical and scalable alternative.
SISU Health delivered 28,000 health checks across multiple workplaces, including a full NHS Health Check pathway at Jaguar Land Rover and a multi-employer approach in Cambridgeshire.
In this webinar, Cambridgeshire Council, Solihull Council and Jaguar Land Rover will share lessons on feasibility, delivery at scale, employer engagement, workforce reach and operational decision-making – insights that could inform future prevention and Working Well programmes.
